The AriSEIA Solar Tour takes place on the weekend of Oct 7-8, 2017.   Various residential and commercial solar systems across the Valley of the Sun will be open to the public with the system owners and installers present to share their knowledge and experience, and to answer questions regarding the system as well as the process of going solar in Arizona.

The AZ Solar Systems Tour is an initiative of the Arizona Solar Energy Industries Association to educate the general public about the benefits of solar and energy efficiency technologies.

The Third Annual Arizona Energy Futures Conference will take place Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Rio Salado Conference Center on the Tempe Campus of the Rio Salado College.

The title for this year's conference is "Solar: A Force For Economic Development." 

The sessions will demonstrate how solar and distributed generation can and has created businesses, jobs, and builds local and state economies; examine policies and recognize new technologies that expand energy choice while keeping rates low; and examine what Arizona should do to be able to profit from the coming changes in energy generation and markets.

Study suggests lower levels of neuroticism explain why conservative states are happier

Conservative states tend to have higher levels of life satisfaction because they have lower levels of neuroticism compared to liberal states, according to new research from a psychologist at Cape Breton University.
The study, published in the journal Psychological Reports, helps explain why there is a correlation between higher conservatism and higher life satisfaction.
“Previous research by others had shown that conservatives generally were happier and more satisfied with their lives than liberals. But why?
That question. - and another explanation - was posed by study author Stewart J. H. McCann: “Three different explanations had been put forward by others. However, I thought that there might be a fourth and more convincing explanation.”

Identifying effective and replicable solutions will be central to conversations at the fifth annual “CityLab: Urban Solutions to Global Challenges” event in Paris, France in October. A partnership between the Aspen Institute, The Atlantic, and Bloomberg Philanthropies, CityLab is the preeminent meeting of city leaders and the top minds in urbanism and city planning, economics, education, art and architecture, community development, and business— convened with the goal of creating scalable solutions to major challenges faced by cities everywhere.

CityLab Paris will take place on October 22-24, 2017, at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand.
