The Debate: Fitness To Serve For The Highest Office In The Land

After more than 725 days in-office, the current occupant of The White House creates the case to evaluate 'The P.T. Barnum of American Politics". . . It's getting more real and you can watch or read:
It's Time to Impeach Trump

Impeachment is a powerful tool. The time to wield it is now, argues the Atlantic senior editor Yoni Appelbaum. In the latest Atlantic Argument, Appelbaum invokes Andrew Johnson’s impeachment in 1868 to make the case for democratically removing President Donald Trump from office. Appelbaum underscores that this measure is not meant to resolve a policy dispute; rather, it is an attempt to rectify the problem of Trump’s inability to discharge the basic duties of his office.
“The president is unfit for the office he holds,” Appelbaum says in the video. “Congress needs to act now and open an impeachment inquiry.”

Just One BIG THING for Reporters

. . . and just the beginning and the end of an article on Mike Allen's Axios.com
Go read it to fill in the blanks and details!
1 big thing: Trump’s virtual reality

One of the hardest things about reporting on President Trump is his tendency to propose wild ideas out loud and then repeat them before coming to his senses or getting talked off the ledge, Axios' Jonathan Swan and Jim VandeHei point out. . .
. . .
Be smart: Trump blurts out most ideas that roll through his mind. The most frustrating part for top officials is they must quickly move the machinery of government to conform to — or more often to terminate — the suggestions.
  • P.S. ... Trump has suggested the shutdown could drag on as long as a year. It sounds unthinkable and absurd. But so did the travel ban.

Oh NO! Deja Vu All Over Again: SB1070

Time to dump that into the dark cesspool of Arizona politics.
Thanks to conservative Mesa Mormon Republican Russell Pearce, the entire State of Arizona has been besmirched almost for forever.
The infamous Anti-Immigration legislation has been reviled for years but lives on in the racist rhetoric of far too many to this day, acquiring a new life of its own in different guises.
Here's a new reported that surfaced 16 Jan 2019
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s State of the State address included a laundry list of items — including some that continue to grab most of the headlines, like water and K-12 funding.
But one of the governor’s pet projects also came up. He likes deregulation, and also challenged lawmakers to get rid of what he called “old, unneeded laws.”
State Sen. Martin Quezada is calling for the elimination of Senate Bill 1070, Arizona’s well-known immigration law. Sen. Quezada joined The Show to talk about it.

Things That Matter: Bowers & Ducey Might Clash On The AZ State House Floor

Ooooo-yeah things could get dicey on a number of issues but there's definitely "something in the water" that East Valley real estate developers need real: MORE WATER.
The issue: The 19-Year Old Drought.
Other states in the Colorado River basin have approved the larger plan, and aside from a few California water districts,
Arizona is the holdout everyone’s watching as it writes an internal deal.
Speaker of The House Rusty Bowers, a conservative Mormon Republican from Mesa, is a key figure because he decides which bills hit the House floor to get voted on.
    What's he want?
    I want language tomorrow.
I want language of the agreements tomorrow.
I want language of the bill tomorrow.
And if he doesn't have them tomorrow, I'm adding a day, . .
    Hello,
Yesterday, I delivered my State of the State address at the Arizona Capitol, focusing on the Things That Matter.
Four years ago we were broke and families were hurting. Today, the state of our state is strong, and getting stronger. The challenge before us is to lay the groundwork today to make sure the Arizona of tomorrow is strong. Doing so requires action now to do the things that matter and secure Arizona’s future.
View my State of the State address HERE.

    Thank you!
    Doug

One of the major issues addressed by Gov. Doug Ducey during his State of the State address was a drought contingency plan.
With a Jan. 31 deadline looming, Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers says he won’t be pressured into approving a plan he has yet to see.
    I want language tomorrow.
I want language of the agreements tomorrow.
I want language of the bill tomorrow.
And if he doesn't have them tomorrow, I'm adding a day, . .
Bowers said holding firm to this resolve is in the best interest of Arizonans.
“I have an obligation as the speaker of the House to my membership and our constituents," he said.
"We are not going to act without knowing what we do.”
House Speaker Bowers spoke with Howard Fischer of Capitol Media Services. who joined The Show to talk about the situation.
