APS, former ACC member questioned by FBI in election spending investigation
Jun Updated
"Arizona Public Service Co. officials and a former member of the Arizona Corporation Commission have been questioned by the FBI in an investigation into spending during the 2014 Arizona elections.
Former ACC member Gary Pierce was questioned, according to a story in the Arizona Republic, in what has been termed a long-term investigation by the federal government into spending for what may be several races. APS officials also said they were questioned.
That election featured millions thrown into the ACC race. But there also was heavy spending by outside or so-called "dark money" groups into the the campaign of Pierce's son, Justin, and against his rival candidates in the Arizona secretary of state race.
The Arizona Attorney General's Office also has been investigating spending in that election cycle."
