The big news today: A federal appeals court has rejected Donald Trump's claims of absolute immunity, ruling that the former president is not exempt from prosecution over his blatant, thoroughly documented, and messy efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Did you catch the 57-page ruling? Don't worry, David Corn pulled out the best lines, including the argument that Trump's insistence on complete immunity poses an existential threat to democracy, one that would "collapse our system of separated powers." The three-judge panel wrote, "We cannot accept that the office of the Presidency places its former occupants above the law for all time thereafter." So how did Trump react? Not great! It's during these sorts of times that I am grateful Trump doesn't use Twitter (or whatever, X), where the slimier of his two adult sons is not responding well to today's news.
